Personal profile

Sam has been a senior lecturer for a number of years having a wide range of experience in the undergraduate and post graduate nursing programmes. Sam has over 10 years clinical experience working both in the UK and Australia within respiratory nursing, cardiothoracic surgery and research.

Before joining Ð԰ɵç̨ Sam developed, delivered and lead various pre and postgraduate models including COPD and asthma modules and a 3rd year undergraduate respiratory module. Sam also lead a team exploring how the department could enhance feedback within the undergraduate nursing degree. This included overseeing the implementation of annotated feedback within the programme.

Sam is passionate about improving teaching and assessment and eager to ensure nursing education relates to clinical practice and is evidenced based. As a result Sam is an advocate for the use of technology enhanced learning, clinical skills, simulation training and OSCE within nurse education.

Sam currently is a module leader for a 1st year undergraduate module where the main focus is anatomy and physiology and other life sciences. Sam is also co-year one lead for the undergraduate nursing degree, a large part of this role entails supporting students when on clinical placement. Another of Sam's main roles at Ð԰ɵç̨ is lead link lecturer at Glenfiled hospital and other local placement areas supporting mentors in clinical practice.

Sam has published in various respiratory journals and has a keen research interest in COPD and Lung Volume Reduction Surgery. Sam has enrolled onto a PhD and is currently researching this fascinating area.
