The Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2017 ranked the programme fourth for teaching quality and seventh for student experience out of 75 universities offering similar courses.

This follows on from last year's performance in the guide, which placed Economics in the top five for teaching quality.

More recently, the subject area (including , , and ) has scored highly in areas including student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016 and the Complete University Guide (CUG) 2017.

Final-year student Ben Barr believes it's the real-world relevance of his Economics course that has led to this strong performance.

He said: "The economic modules are great! They cover such a broad range of issues on a global, European and national scale, but the best part is that the lecturers are able to apply the knowledge you're learning to current affairs that we're witnessing on a daily basis.

"That doesn't just make it easier to understand, but it makes it exciting to see the impact of what you're learning."

Second-year Ryan Clarke agreed: "It's important to look at the real world and I'm glad I made the decision to come to Ð԰ɵç̨."
