About the course

The DTSP programme is aligned to the Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship (Level 6), which provides learners with a core set of key knowledge, skills and behaviours, while offering the opportunity to focus on one of three specialisms, enabling tailored learning to specific business needs.

What you will study

Learners will be taught in blocks of one week at a time, each comprising four days of teaching followed by one day of revision. The course is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, group work, laboratory sessions, practical sessions and self-directed study. Learners will create a portfolio to capture the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed throughout the programme and in the workplace.

From the second year, learners will begin work on their chosen specialism. The three different specialisms offer unique options in addition to the core content:

Data Analyst Specialist

Collect, organise and study data in order to make recommendations to improve business performance

Network Engineer Specialist

Design, install, maintain and support communication networks within and between organisations

Design, build and test high-quality software solutions to meet business needs

Assessment

Learners will undertake a range of assessments at the end of their academic modules. Assessment and how assessments are weighted varies across modules.

Learners will complete a work-based project in their final year which will bring together their accumulated knowledge. The final DTSP Synoptic Project end-point assessment (EPA) is a substantial piece of work, typically taking around three months to undertake alongside the apprentice’s paid employment.

Entry Requirements

All applicants need to be employed by an organisation in the UK (not self-employed) in a role that provides them with the experience and exposure to a range of relevant business areas. This will ensure that learners can complete all elements as required by the standards.

The entry requirements for the apprenticeship are:

Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Mathematics or equivalent, plus

  • 104 UCAS points from at least two A-levels or equivalent or
  • BTEC National Diploma/ Extended Diploma at DMM or
  • Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE or
  • International Baccalaureate: 26+ points or
  • T Levels Merit

Each applicant will be individually assessed on their eligibility, qualifications and work experience.

Programme Leader

Dr. Francisco J. Aparicio Navarro

Associate Professor in Cyber Security

Dr. Francisco J. Aparicio Navarro is an Associate Professor in Cyber Security and the Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship.

He oversees the design and continuous development of the curriculum, coordinates the onboarding and induction of new apprentices, and ensures inclusive and high-quality delivery across all modules.

Dr. Navarro is also responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering exceptional educational services.

Career pathways and employability

DTSP is designed for professionals looking to earn whilst working towards a BSc (Hons) degree qualification. Similarly, the degree apprenticeship offers employers the opportunity to upskill existing employees, or recruit new talent in to a role relevant to the programme, such as Software Developers and Testers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, IT Project Managers, Network Engineers, Database Specialists or Systems Designers.

Fees and funding
